discolored Jeep Grand Cherokee Front bumperjharber15 03-10-2008, 08:30 AM I have a 2002 jeep grand cherokee sport. When i purchased the vehicle two years ago, i replaced the front bumper. Amazingly, on the day that i purchased, someone hit the plastic front bumper while i was parked, and left a deep scuff in it. So, I went on ebay and purchased the grey plastic bumper to match my car. Less than two years later, the bumper is showing a great amount of distress. The top of the bump near the grill and headlights has white lines all through it. (Kind of looks like heat damage, but I'd imagine it could be from any weather stress) My guess is that i just got taken for a cheap bumper. Any thoughts? Where should I purchase another bumper that won't be stressed from the weather? JeepForever 03-10-2008, 02:04 PM Was your replacement bumber new or used? If it's new, it could be cheap plastic if it's non-OEM. If it's used, it was probably weathered to begin with, and might have been dressed up with some plastic protectant. I use Armor All plastic & vinyl protectant and it looks good for a few weeks, but it's not really weather-proof. Unless you're really particular, I recommend trying a vinyl protectant and see if it brings back the newer color. Any used bumper (which is probably most of what you'll have to choose from) will need some attention to keep it looking good. jharber15 03-10-2008, 02:59 PM It was actually brand new from what I knew. I'm guessing that it was non-oem cheap plastic. What does a new plastic bumper cost typically? This was pretty cheap from what i remember. I never gave that a thought.
