CHeck you tranny mounts and u-bolts on the axles. Also you can put the tranny in NEutral and go back to were teh driveshaft meets with the axle, see if you have any play in the pinion shaft, should be tight. WHen you installed the lift did you switch over to the CV drive shaft? thisismylife 03-10-2008, 07:48 PM there is play in the drive line when i put it in neutral from where where the 4 bolts on the rear end for the drive line i did not put the lift in how would i cheack and if it is not done should i do it thanks fredjacksonsan 03-11-2008, 09:50 AM Where is the play? You said 4 bolts....is it the cap that holds on the U joint? You may simply need some new U joints. thisismylife 03-11-2008, 07:23 PM so i put new u joints in and there is no more play or sounds thanks you i have one more ? would you know why some times when i stop my light dim thanks you gtmud 03-12-2008, 06:25 AM Your lights dimming is a possible note to look at the alternator, check the output voltage, should be no less than 12.8-13.0 volts under full load. Also look at all yout grounds, makesure they are all clean and tight. As far as your U-joints, with the 3.5" lift you need to look at installing a CV driveshaft, its pricy, but it will save you from changing your U-joints constantly, or worse from snapping your driveshaft when you go mudding and bind up. fredjacksonsan 03-12-2008, 11:35 AM As far as your U-joints, with the 3.5" lift you need to look at installing a CV driveshaft, its pricy, but it will save you from changing your U-joints constantly, or worse from snapping your driveshaft when you go mudding and bind up. Hear, hear. Slip yoke eliminator or no? On the dimming lights, don't forget to check your battery cables for corrosion; I've found some that had corrosion 6" from the battery inside the sheathing. dave92cherokee 03-13-2008, 08:55 PM To switch over to a cv shaft you have to have a sye, now whether it's a hack n tap style or full sye that replaces the output shaft is up to you. For the cv shaft you can either pay a few hundred and have one custom built or find another 4x4 automatic cherokee and get the front shaft out of it and put it in the back. That will work for lifts up to about 6". terrymason 03-22-2008, 09:50 PM Sounds like a ujoint to me. I'll also echo what others have said about the slip yoke. The dim lights are probably alternator or the battery. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
