91 PA starts when cold

My PA starts when cold but if shut off after running a while it will turn over but not start. If I wait 45-60 minutes it will then start. Help! Where do we start?

I assume that you have no spark when trying to start and if so, you should take the ignition control module to AutoZone, or Advanced and have it tested. Have them run it through several cycles to simulate engine heat. If that checks ok, you may have to replace the crank position sensor. Both can be heat sensitive. Be sure to check fuel pressure also.

Son replaced ignition control module problem still there. By the way this car only has 52,000 miles on it, but it sat unused for several years. Could it be the crank sensor? When it is running it runs smooth and does not stall, just wont restart when it is warmed up.

Did you have the ICM tested before replacing it? If the crank sensor is failing due to heat soak, you will not have a CPS signal, or spark to the plugs until the sensor cools down! If you have a tachometer or scanner, check for engine rpm while trying to start. No rpm would indicate, no CPS signal. A good test for spark is an old inductive timing light with a clip-on terminal to place around the ignition wire. If you have spark, the timing light will flash, if not you have no spark.
