HELP-2000 lesabre trans leak

My wifes 2000 lesabre is leaking trans fluid from the trans vent right on top of the trans just behind/below the rubber air filter intake tube.
It gets worse when its driven/heated up.
The fluid level is just a little low since it is leaking it out pretty fast.
She did say that she hit a snow/ice bump at slow speed (under 10mph) and I wonder if that could have loosened up the trans filter.
What would cause it to leak out that vent or is that vent not working the way it should ?(it's just a simple vent)
I told her she cant drive it until we figure it out or she'll just burn it up.

Welcome to AF, check for a dent in the trans pan first or a restricted /pinched cooler line.

How much comes out? How full is the transmission? You should check the level when the transmission is warm from driving 10-15 minutes and the level should be below the top mark for full on the dipstick for the transmission. Is it overfull from a recent service or adding fluid?
Usually overflow is from running very hot or overfilling.
MaxWedge is right about checking for a pinched or bent line that carries the fluid to the radiator and looking at the transmission pan to see if it got dented upward.

This problem sounds coincidental to the bump over snow/ice but two known issues that will cause ATF to leak out of the vent are more valve body related. For example a loose valve body or possibly an improperly torqued or defective channel plate gaskets. GM issued a TSB back in 2004 covering this issue on the 4T65E autotransaxle. See link below.

Well, so far no luck.Thanks for all the help so far.
I dropped the trans pan and put a new filter on just to be sure she didnt knock it loose causing it to foam up and even though the old filter felt slightly loose, the new one didnt help.
Looked at the trans cooling lines and they dont appear to be kinked or crushed but they were pulled down a little in the one bracket.
I'll probably mess around with it a bit more then run it into the shop and see what they say.
