2000 Deville 4.6L alternatorDEEPHATE 03-09-2008, 03:12 PM Anybody had experience with changing an alternator on a 4.6? I knew something must not be too normal when I was quoted over six hundred bucks for a rebuilt. Antifreeze cools this alternator and the radiator has to be removed to get to it? Removing the radiator looks like a daunting task. Any advice other than just having someone else do it? I hate to admit defeat... 83cutlass 03-09-2008, 06:33 PM Once the radiator is out of the way its a piece of cake. DEEPHATE 03-09-2008, 09:52 PM Once the radiator is out of the way its a piece of cake. But removing the radiator IS my problem. 83cutlass 03-09-2008, 10:46 PM Start by removing the fans. Then remove all the hoses and cooler lines attached to the rad. Then unbolt the A/C Condensor from the rad and pull the radiator out the top. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
