I just drove 300 miles from Penn State back home to where I live for spring break in my 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. When I pulled up the driveway I heard a rattle coming from under my Jeep. It turned out to be a broken clamp for the muffler. However, when I was under there, I noticed gear oil leaking out the rear differential. It was leaking out where the drive shaft goes into the rear differential. What is the problem here and how do I go about fixing this? The Jeep has the Selec-Trac 4WD system. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you need to have the pinion seal replaced.

Oh ok thank you very much. I'll see what I can do.
