Desperate, next door widow lady's 1995 Contour, 4 door sedan, push button auto door locks (not keyless). The front passenger door will not latch closed. After squirting WD-40, with the door open, I can manually latch the mechanism and it will stay in the closed position. But, when I try to close the door, it will not latch, even in the first position (not fully closed).

Any suggestions without removing the door trim?? Any exploded views that I might look at? I have a Haynes book, but it does not show any detail of the latching mechanism. Thanks, Joe

CANCEL THE REQUEST. I tied the door closed so she could go to the Senior Center to get her taxes filed. The soaking WD-40 and the vibration of the 30 mile round trip fixed the problem. The door now latches. Joe

Glad you got it fixed. While your at it, register over on www.contour.org. If you ever have a problem, post over there. The website only has about 2 active contour owners (myself included). :disappoin
