O2 sensor fix

Hey yall, been a while since I logged on here. Got back a while ago from playin in the giant sandbox, and have a question about a couple things on my '02 Cav. I have a 2200OHV motor in it, and before I deployed I put an aftermarket exhaust, header and brand new pipe all the way back and an aftermarket magnaflow converter. Now, my computer is throwing two codes, one being a circuit fault on the bank one sensor, I am assuming it is the one at the header. I can understand this one as I had to lengthen the four wires by splicing some into it, the bung on the header is a farther reach than the stock location. I got a universal one from Bosch to replace it and hope the extra reach will make it work correctly. Now the rear one is throwing the catalyst inefficiency code. I have read on JBO that you can place 2 18mm spark plug anti-foulers in the bung, drill one out to accept the sensor and then when you get the sensor back in it will read "right". To my understanding it has something to do with backing it out of the stream. I am going to be heading back to where my car is parked next week and need these codes off for when I go get my inspect done. Is all I need to do to the front one is replace it, or should I put the anti-foulers on there as well to back it out of the exhaust stream? And what all besides backing the post-cat sensor out of the stream will need done? Thanks in advance for info, sorry it's a long post I am trying to be detailed so yall know exactly what's goin on.

hey,
the reason for the spark plug anti-foulers is like you said, to take it futher out of the stream. The reason this works, is because if the bank 2 sensor(one on cat.) reads the same or higher amounts of carbon as the bank 1 sensor(one on header), then it will throw a code. So my suggestion is to replace the bank 1 sensor, and see if it works. If not, then replace the bank 2 sensor or do the spark plug anit-fouler trick. It does workl. Did it to my GTI about 17k miles ago, and its still hasnt thrown a code.

Thanks for the help man those anti-foulers worked like a charm. Fired the car up and no CEL or stored codes, it's all workin great now.
