Slight Auto-Transmission Leak

I have a very very tiny, barely a drip, leak in the seal on the passenger side of the automatic transmission of my 03 Cavalier. Could this have been caused by my B&M Shift Plus? Or just a bad seal? And obviously I should yank out my shift plus before I take it to the dealer so i get my 50% warranty.

are you talking about the valvebody pan? if so take it off take 2 hammers. one being a ballpeen. take the pan put it on the floor looking at the inside. take the ballpeen and place the round end in the bolt holes and hit the hammer part with the other hammer... what that does is flattens the holes with the rest of the pan. do each one, u dont have to hit it that hard. i do it everytime i work on a trans. u should get a new axle seal while your at it. you can get it at an auto parts store, it would be cheeper for you

Ha ha, the dealership can't void your warranty for having the shift plus causing a leak. They'd have to prove it was the culprit, and splicing 2 wires didn't cause a seal to fail. If its coming from the output shaft seal, i would just replace the seal myself. Its not that hard bro, honestly.

Not exactly sure what to call where its leaking from, its on the passenger side. I can try and take a picture for it tomorrow, So the shift-plus shouldn't cause me any problems with them? Think they'd even notice it? I have it wrapped up pretty stock looking. Its not hard to take it off just a hassle.

i wouldnt worry about it like the af advisor said by you doing that it wouldnt cause the leak so it would be impossible for them to void the warrenty. the only way they can is if they can prove that, that would cause the leak. if you know how to work on cars then you should beable to do it yourself. all there is there is the side pan gasket, channel plate gasket, both axle seals and the filter gasket for the bottom pan. the only other thing is the front case seal for the converter, if thats bad then look at the convertor hub, if it has a nick in then it would wear that out, but i wouoldn't go that far yet make it simple first

Pretty sure its just the passenger side axel seal, and Its like a barely noticable drip, but as some of you know Im picky and notice the tiniest things.

if you really want, you can get a tube of sealant that holds higher temps. i use it at work for things its great. if it only leaking just a little like you say this would work. just clean off the surface and spread a little on. it would be the cheepest and a faster way to fix it. i use it when i put the 4 wheel drive unit back on the trans tail housing and i never get a leak. you can do it for a temp fix until you get the seal and put it on

Thanks for the information guys, saves me the hassle of taking out my Shift-Plus. I'll get some sealer tomorrow for a temporary solution.

If the dealership tries to tell you other wise, just mention this to them

"Magnuson-Moss Warranty Improvement Act" and Lawyer.

In lamens terms, they cannot void your warranty on something because you modified it. They cannot void your warranty on your motor say if you install a full exhaust from the header back. All they can do is no longer cover your stock exhaust manifold, cat, muffler. But who cares, you've got better stuff now anyways right? If your transmission takes a dump tho, then you might have some issues trying to get a replacement tho. Those shift plus do increase line pressure inside the transmission for the harder shifts and they'll see cut wires.

But i know they will try and tell you gaskets and seals are not covered even in an extended warranty. However if its been less than 90 days, slam them with the lemon law. But read over your warranty booklet very well. When i was younger, i got scammed into this when i had them do work still.

Well, I'm not really worried about my dealership trying to screw us. My dad's actually pretty good friends with all of them. I mean they give us discounts on all the parts we order anyway without any warranties, they let my dad go and try out any car on the lot even when they know he has no intention of buying, I mean they even knocked $500 off the price for me car with no persausion. Its not even a full warranty though. Its only a 50% on parts and labor so I have to pay something anyway.
