Fuel Pump Wires - 98 Crown Vic.

From the Wires in the center of the trunk that lead into the tank area under the car. What colors are the wires you would apply (+/-) to so I could see if the Pump runs?

It's for a 1998 Crown Vic. I've looked underneath and see 3 wires running into the trunk area and about 5 going into the Fuel tank pump / sending unit "Which ever it is" located on the front side of the fuel tank.
Also keep in mind, There are about 5-8 lines that go through that hole in the center of the trunk, 3 I know go to the Tank, and the others I haven't been able to follow to see where they go

Which brings another question, That thingy on the side. Is that the Sending Unti or Fuel Pump? Or are they connected and the same together? I'm just hoping I dont have to Drop the tank to see if the Fuel pump sits ontop.

Thanks a Million for the help, And yes I did search up on this and still have no verified answers

well I just replaced the Pump and still no power to the pump "Cause It dont start and it dont do the 1 second prime".

So if it's not the Pump, Probably not the Relays because I swapped them out.

What else could it be????

Have you checked the inertia switch in the trunk? Check to ssee if there is current to and from the switch when key is turned on. If there is current there, check at the pump again. If there is no current going to the switch, check for blown fuses, wiring, relays or pcm.

I checked that before replacing the pump. I was getting about 6.?? Volts on it. I replaced the pump, and tested the Old pump and it worked with +/- put to it, so I'm dumbfounded at this point. Pretty pissed actually to see that the old pumped worked.

Your story is starting to sound like the same thing I went through with my 94.

I ended up finding a broken wire underneath the 3 relays under the hood.

I'm talking about the relay box that is right by the brake fluid resevoir on the drivers side fender. It contains a air conditioning relay, a ECM relay, and the fuel pump relay.

The broken wire was actually one that powered up the ECM (computer).

I was also get strange, low voltages at the fuel pump.

When I found the broken wire, I had turn that relay set upside down to look at the bottom of it. I seen a suspicious wire in the bunch, and when I cut the zip ties of the harness to check it out the broken wire stood right up so the problem was plain to see.

I think you could do a search by my username and find my postings on this.

I hope this helps, good luck!
