Turn Signal and Rear brakes

I have a 2001 Malibu V6 that is my wife's car. Ever since new the turn signals have only worked intermittently. I took it to the dealer 4 times with no luck when new and after warranty ran out they didn't want to talk about it! Usually works when car first started but after 2nd or 3rd turn they quit working. Any ideas?

Second, Rear brake shoes need replacing. I have done a lot of front pads, but rear is brake shoes. Haven't worked on brake shoes in years and need some guide lines and hints to get me through it. Perhaps someone has schematics from shop manual? Much thanks in advance. Jim

Too late now, but should have called area rep. What parts did they replace, should be on your work orders.

Remove both drums at same time, and only take apart one side at a time, use the other for proper assy.

Your turn signal problem is more than likely caused by a weak relay. The relay on this car is built into the hazard switch (the one that turns on the hazard flashers). I got mine at the dealer for around $30 and replaced it myself about 2 years ago with no problems since. There is another post started by me that has the replacement porcedure.

Both of the above posts were right on. The only thing I would like to add is that the 2001 Malibu was included in the recall so the dealer should have fixed it for you. You might want to check with them again.
