Hohoooww, I'm sorry to say that now but your reference picture is false !!
this may come from a rebuilt T16 because Engine valve covers were not red but "goldish aluminium" (iron ?)... :disappoin
moreover your picture show a Evo2 engine not an evo1...

here is MC85 engine:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e14/phil67c/rallye/engineMC85.jpg

don't know if you care but I wanted to point this out to you, hoping you won't :runaround: and :banghead: me :naughty: for saying that too late.

A couple months ago, I talked with some people in the historic documentation dept. in the Peugeot museum, and they told me that all original 205 valve covers (competition) were finished in that strange gold/aluminum color, and all 405 valve covers were gold/aluminum or polished gunmetal.

So, those red valve covers should be from a rebuilt car, or a street 205.

Hope this info helps!:icon16:

Well, right colour or not. I do think it looks promising.

And the painting is done very well and clean (only a shame that you'll have to strip it :evillol:)

Well, you don't HAVE to :grinyes:

I think you are doing a great job, and those valve covers can be the color you want them to be. It is just a matter if you have fun replicating all the details of a car. :)

Hy!

The assumption legitimate,I foreshadowed it something things like this, but may be it after all I reference my picture the equivalent

It shows the engine compartment of the ready maquette on the front of a guide, and seems me in that manner this stands near to my version, than to the one showed by you (evo1?)

I see it at the exhaust mostly the difference.

But independent from the truth,I believe what never turns out possibly rather I stay at that version what I selected

Hello,

I'm not sure I understood very weel what you were saying above but I'm not sure too that you did understand yourself what I was pointing out or maybe you don't know 205 T16 evolutions, because what I was showing is a Evo1 engine and more than that IS the one of the Monte Carlo version you're building ! :iceslolan

the additionnals air intakes tubes visible in the picture aren't included in the tamiya kit that's probably why you think you're closer to the real one with your build than the picture by refering to the tamiya building instructions... But by refering to the tamiya building instructions yes ok but not to the pic you showed !!

Your tamiya building instructions references are BTW the best way to see that your reference picture is wrong !
This is a rebuilt (badly rebuilt should I even say...) because it shows an Evo2 engine on a Evo1 chassis !! :yikes: (moreover with some wrong parts like the red valve cover for example...)
look at the air admission system, you have a 4 in 1 tube in the evo1 version, your picture shows the single tube from the evo2 whereas you still have the top "arch frame" between the two suspensions tops like it is in the evo1 !!

In fact you have to build the engine like it is in the tamiya building instructions, which only lack the additional air intakes tubes, but believe me forget your personal pictures as the one above because this has nothing to deal with any real 205 T16 official race car !!!

For the moment you only painted red the glodisg aluminium valve cover, but I was afraid you would start rerproducing the engine of your picture, which is completely false, if you now follow tamiya building instructions you'll be right don't worry.
And as I see you've just opened the front hood, also take care because you listed 3 photos but the third one is from the evo2, which has some differences too concerning the front hood.
(stripes part between lights opens with the hood on the evo2 but not on the evo1)
so for the moment you're right with your cut. :naughty:

Don't misunderstand my thoughts or willing, I'm not trying to show you're badly building your model, I'm just trying to bring you the best references as I saw you had a wrong car reference that could lead you in the wrong direction.
You're doing a great job on this model, but I think you expect to build it as accurate as possible (even with this strange wheels choice...?! :eek7:  ) that's why I gave you the 85 MC engine reference knowing yours was wrong.
You can trust me when I bring some Peugeot references (because I've been collected some for years as it is my favorite brand) especially about 205 T16 as I have many ambitious projects (for example a fully opened Evo2 as the one of your third picture just above).
But you are the only one to decide how you'll build this model !

And I will folow the build anyway !

If you expect me to give you more references just fell free to ask, but if you don't matter and care about accuracy and just want to build it like you want just say it too and i'll shup up, promised !

try another look to the original one:

or even Ken's model who modified the inside as it has to be:

Well I think I'd better give up trying to advice you the good colors and choices, by evidence you don't care building a realistic and accurate model... :screwy: :grinno:

It all makes sense now that you've posted that last photo with the number plate on it... The car you're basing your build on used to be owned bya guy called Peter Johnson here in New Zealand... It had quite a bit of work done on it in an attempt to make it both faster and more reliable (including a 6 speed sequential box - try and find one of those in an original 205 T16), and was used regularly in tarmac / targa style events here in NZ for a few years. They did make it fast, but it remained fragile, and as a result now lives in Ireland...

The owner (ex owner now) is a vehicle importer with a passion for Group B... He had a Metro 6R4 before the 205, and now has an RS200...

Below is a link here to his website which has a number of pictures of the car as it was raced here in New Zealand. While it is a genuine ex-works car, it is in FAR from ex-works condition.. It was modified extensively to make it a better car NOW, with no concern for historical accuracy. Hence running EvoII bodywork etc on an Evo I chassis. This car is NOT representative of any other 205T16...

At least at the end you'll be able to send PJ a photo of your model of 'his' car.....
