Ok, im looking to see who has installed a cheap cat back, like a summit, jegs, or any other cheaper cat back system like that. I want to know how long you have had it on your truck and how many of you have had rusting problems with it. Some people are telling me that they rust out within a year, let me hear you guys.

Had a summit cat-back on a Grand Cherokee, 1.5years before I sold the jeep, still looked good.

First I just cut out the factory muffler and put in a jumper pipe. I got about a year then my welds rusted out. So I went with a 2 1/2" duals kit. (similar to dynomax, cant remember the name) I got about 2 years out of it. Then on I made my own exhausts until I got tired of messing with it and got the jegs 3" exhaust and got 13 months on it. I strung it out to 14 months before some railroad tracks hooked me up. Then I put my own 3" straight pipe on and got maybe a year before the old pipe I hooked to rusted out. Now I have a jumper pipe off the cat hooked into a 3.5" diesel exhaust (stainless) which I got free so I tried it. Its been on there about 2 months now and the only problem so far is a clamp wasn't tight and it let the pipe spin and rattle against the heat sheild.
I haven't had much luck with an exhaust kit. I had a monte carlo ss I took to a muffler shop and had 2 1/2" duals put on and that exhaust looked fine when I sold it some 4 years later. I drove it in the snow too.. :dunno:
