ok guys, i hit a curbed while sliding on ice. i bent my control arm, or A-frame. Now im replacing my lower control arm and i ran into a problem. They say to take the cotton pin out of the top of the bolt on the ball stud, and remove the castle bolt, then bang on it until the thing unfreezes and you can pop it off. Well my problem is that when im trying to unscrew my castle bolt to get it off, THE BALL STUD( or w-e the thing the castle nut is screwed onto) keeps spinning with the castle nut. What do we do? we ripped the boot of and tried using a pickle fork to keep it in place...didnt work. we tried using vise grips to hold in place....kept spinning. Were about ready to get a saw-zaw and start cutting. We alread got a new lower control arm and bolts. Any ideas guys? we need em bad.

Can try and heating the nut with torch. Pb blaster.

If that doesn't work, remove the whole steering knuckle from the car with control arm attached still. Put it on a bench and take a side grinder and cut the sucker off. Those shouldn't twist around at all like yours is doing. I think that would take the least amount of time.

We tried PB blaster. most things telling how to remove the control arm says that ballstud should be frozen in place. well idk why mine is spinning, so were really just considering saw-zawing or grinding it off. i just dont get why ours is spinning.

WE got it off! with thte jack method. now we cant get the lower control arm out of the frame. it was bent on left side some so we know it was going to be a lil hassle getting out. But now we cant get it out with hammer banging, prying at it with croowbar, and pushing it down with our peet. Any ideas guys?
