I replaced my head gaskets and all other gaskets that were pulled out. I put new plugs and wires in. Turned the key and all I got was a whirring sound. It didn't try to kick over or anything. I was wondering if it could be fuel not getting to the engine. Someone please help!

Is the engine turning over or is the starter just spinning and not engaging the fly wheel.

After several tries it started working, but smoke is now coming out from around the engine. I'm not sure if its just burning stuff off or its not properly sealed.

I'm assuming you shut it off then? If it kept smoking after you shut it off, it's probably just burning off the outside. That almost always happens after head/intake gaskets because there's no way around spilling some oil/antifreeze. I usually hose the engine off before starting it. It's pretty easy to tell if it's just steam.
