Re-assembling engine oil line into oil filter bracket (coming from Radiator)

Hi Readers,

Thanks in advance for reading this posting.

My point for posting this posting is that I am having a re-assembly problem. The other content below the “Re-assembly Problem” is background information.

If you need more information please let me know. I worked hard to accurately concisely communicate the issue.

Warmest Humble Regards,
Al from New Jersey - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Re-assembly Problem:
-------------------------
Engine oil leaks from between a nut and the aluminum oil line that clips into this nut.
……………The Nut was replaced. The Nut component contains the Nut and 2 O-rings within it and a clip. The clip assembles onto the aluminum end of the oil line.

Questions:
Q1: The aluminum end of the oil line has 4 minor bends in it where the line passes next to oil pan…….Which way does the bend out go ? Up? Down? Away from oil pan? I did not take note before hand.

Q2: If there is 1/16” of in/out slack in the oil line/Nut when assembled when you gently push the line into the Nut and then gently pull it out…….Is this okay or too much? And,,,,

Q3: Is the degree of squareness that the aluminum end of the oil line installs into the Nut acutely sensitive to letting oil leak out if not 100% precisely installed straightly?

==== Background Information =================

Problem that initiated a repair:
-----------------------------
I backed out of a parking spot on a rainy day when I visually identified oil on the parking lot surface. I looked under pickup and saw oil dripping from the lower engine oil line connection. Specifically the leak was occurring between the Nut and the oil line that clips into this Nut (some people call this threaded nut a "base"). As an FYI…the Nut has threads at the one end that installs into oil filter bracket. I was told that after many years, the O-rings go bad that are located within this Nut and replacement of this component solves the problem.

Details:
-------------------------
Parts: Unusual looking Nut and engine oil line

NUT: A nut (that some people call a “base”) is open at one end (DOES NOT contain inside or outside threads) while the other end has outside threads that are used to thread (install) into the oil filter bracket that is attached to engine block.

ENGINE OIL LINE: Next comes the engine oil line that travels between the Radiator (drivers side) and the oil filter bracket. Half of this oil line is rubber hose at the Radiator end and half aluminum tubing line at the other end. This engine oil line is about 3 feet in length.

INSTALLATION CONNECTIONS:
The rubber hose end of this line installs into the Radiator. The aluminum end of the oil line has a clip that installs snuggly over it. This end containing a clip installs by pushing it into the open end of the Nut. A “snap” can be heard when it is clipped into place. The Nut is installed into the oil filter bracket using the threaded end of the Nut prior to installing the oil line.
