I was wondering if a person could take off the catalytic converter on a 1999 crow Victorian (police intersepter). then in a replacement put straight pipe and glass packs on. would it screw up the computer so it would not work correctly?

You can remove the converter and there is a kit to bypass the O2 sensors to fool the PCM to think it is ok. By the time you invest in all you will need, you can have a converter installed.

Because i have a Police Interceptor engine an i want to get all of the horse power out. Also make it sound really sweet

Removing the converter will not give you any more horsepower. The engine and management systems are designed to work with so much back pressure. You will be louder and think you have more power, but I don't think it will help any.

You might want to check with your local laws before altering the emission controls of your car. On my 2003 crown vic it has 4 cats, two for each exhaust manifold, and in my opion the car should do fine emmission wise with just one cat at each manifold. The secondary cats are just a back-up to catch anything the primary cats might have missed. Again, it might be un-lawful to remove them. Where I live I need to have all the emmission control components on the vehical and in working order because I am required by law to go for emmissions testing every 2 years.

I don't think you are going to make much power by removing a cat, but it will sound louder.

I ran straight pipes after the cats with no mufflers. It was a pain in the butt when highway driving. It would drone bad between 85-95 km/h (approx 50-60 mph). Adding tailpipes that extended past the rear bumper helped a bit, but in the end I put mufflers back on again. I added vortex V-baffle mufflers, quiet when cruising, and nice deep tone when I put my foot into it.

removing cats is tampering with Federal emmisions if caught last I knew was a $10000 fine per offense cvpi's have 4 cats so do the math.
