2001 Grand Prix ECU issue Please HELP>? chrissbee77 02-20-2008, 07:21 PM
This is my firt posting but i was told this is the place to go for answers. I have a 2001 grand prix gt 3.8 not supercharged. How do i reset the ECU i have already pulled the battery cables and left them off it still has not been reset pontiac told me there was a procedure to do it but they wanted $$$$ I appreciate the advice. BNaylor 02-20-2008, 07:35 PM How long did you leave the battery cables off? The dealer will do a complete PCM (ECU) reset with a Tech II scan tool which is the preferred method. We have another field expedient PCM reset procedure posted so let me know if you would like to try it. chrissbee77 02-20-2008, 07:51 PM How do i do the method your are talking about thanks for the quick reply BNaylor 02-20-2008, 11:58 PM Just to clarify if you are resetting the PCM to clear a SES/CEL light then any decent odb-ii scanner can be used. But in the meantime you can refer to this thread at the link below which has the procedure I mentioned. Pay close attention to which battery cable is removed and follow each step exactly. See Post #8. No guarantee it will work on your year/model but worth a try.
