94 LeSabre - Burning Smell

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post my question since this doesn't seem like a LeSabre-specific question. So please let me know if I should post it somewhere else.

I have a '94 LeSabre. Lately I have been noticing an acrid odor when I stop after I have been driving it for 10+ minutes. The first couple of times, I thought it was just my imagination, but last time I noticed a bit of smoke/steam rising from the hood. The temperature gauge and all other gauges were normal; no warning lights. I checked the coolant and oil levels and they were normal. Any ideas?

Thanks for your help.

Without being able to smell the smell, it is impossible to say.

Welcome to AF! The next time this occurs, leave the engine running and pop the hood and look around the engine compartment to see if you notice anything that would cause the smell or smoke. Then, stop the engine and do the same. Pay attention to any small leaks or foreign material present near or on the engine. Once you are able to pinpoint any locations it might be easier to diagnose.

My 94 LeSabre is leaking brake fluid out of the master cylinder. It is dripping onto the exhaust, and creates a very strong burning order (almost like an electrical fire). It is worse if the car sits for a few days, and then drive it. It does take several minutes before you can smell it. Smoke does come out of the drivers side hood compartment. I have yet to replace my master cylinder, as I need rotors, brakes, and tires, too.
