Clicking Sound in my 2003 Expedition

I noticed a couple of days ago a clicking sound started inside my 03 Expedition, it's coming from the rear passenger side in the 3rd row area behind the interior panel. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this nooise and if so what is it. The sound starts after I first start the truck but if I turn it off and re-start it it goes away, it seems to only do it after it has sat for a while. Any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you.

it may be the blend door actuator for the rear ac unit, located inside the side cover in the right rear of the car. i had the same problem and this was it. replaced with unit from rockauto.com. cost about $35.00.

:1: Check the rear AC area to make sure you do not have any loose components.

Hi, new here and soon to be a new owner of a 2003 Exp EB Edition. I took it for a test drive today and heard exactly what the OP described. The salesman said he would have it looked at and cleaned up. He called me this afternoon to explain what was wrong. It is a $300 part that has to do with the rear heater. The mechanic unplugged the wire and it stopped. He said that there is nothing seriously affected by removing the connection and doing so the salesman is knocking a whole bunch of money off the price.

I would take it without the part and if better for you, I would just install the piece myself. :2cents:

I'm getting ready to replace this part for the third time (2003 Expedition). Every time I have replaced it, I have checked out everything I knew to check out. The blend door does seem heavier than I would imagine, but it does move freely and smootly. Any suggestions?

What does this blend door blend? Hot air/cold air? Upper rear vents, rear floor vents? What would happen if I just disconnect it?

Thanks
