1. When I turn the steering wheel in either direction I hear a loud "DONG" type sound, this doesnt happen everytime, but quite frequently, & also varies in intensity, sometimes real loud & harsh & sometimes real soft, what is this & how can I fix it?

2. My driver side window wont go down, the window button was locked for a while & I couldnt even press it down & now I can but the window wont go down. The passenger side goes down a little slower than I would like but it goes up really slow & sometimes it doesnt make it & I have to go up & down until it reaches the top. How do I fix those?

3. My ABS & CHECK TIRE PRESS lights come on at random together, never just one of them. Why? How can I fix that?

Also, my headlights are extremely dull even with new bulbs, anybody know a quality set of headlight covers for a reasonable price? I would like to have those blue tinted lights?

THANKS!

Welcome to AF

Your noise sounds like a bad control arm bushing or tie rod. I would have it looked at on a rack so they can see what's doing it.

The window issues could be bad motors or bad regulators (the motors have an internal thermal limiter which can make them work intermittently, and the regulators are cable operated and can/will start binding as they age) or even a bad switch.

The ABS/Low tire (and if also lit "Trac off") lights could all be caused by a bad hub bearing, as they contain the wheel speed sensors. A scan with an ABS capable scan tool will finger which bearing(s) is/are giving a bad reading(s).

The best headlamp bulbs for these cars are the Sylvania Silverstar Ultras. The "blue" lights on the market are garbage and aren't worth a turd in the rain. If your headlamp lenses are cloudy, there is a proceedure in our tips and maintenance section on how to buff them back out. The aftermarket versions of the assemblies I've seen are not very well made, the reflective coating flakes off after a few months and renders them useless (worse than the cloudy OEM units).

I want to beef up this car as far as possible, without going overboard, what are the first steps to take & whats the most hp/tq I can get out of it?

I've heard converting to a manual is possible but its a major hassle? I love a manual tranny but in this case is it worth it at all or not?

Check out this page: http://www.3800pro.com/forum/fwd-transaxle-components/7741-manual-transmission-gtp.html

Probably not worth it unless you've got a lot of money to burn. Plus, you'll probably want to put your money towards other mods first.:2cents:

there is not a Manual tranny made for a FWD car that will take the torque of a 3800. there MAY be a tranny out there that would work (I saw something in here somewhere about the Feiro guys with trannies that would work) but the hassle just wouldnt be worth it.

start with the easy things for HP gains. do a CAI and Ubend delete (http://www.zzperformance.com/grand_prix/products1.php?id=504&catid=110). that will make the car breathe much better and of course give you better throttle response.

I just changed my oil on Sunday night, & now my service engine light is on. I checked the oil & there is a whitish kind of tint to it, I took it in for the previous oil change just over 3000 miles ago & when I changed it on monday it was real sludgy? Any ideas? Easy fix?
