Visiting a model car swap meet in Germany about 1 year ago I came across a small booth displaying lots of 1/32 scale slot car kits. One single 1/24 body catched my attention. Without any informations available and the people only talking french I walked away with a business card and web adress. After some research the kit turned out to be a ‘50s Lago-Talbot roadster. Lago-Talbot sounded very interesting, because (except for some Heller kits) no 1/24 scale models are available of this not very well-known, long gone French manufacturer. However, photos of the build model found on this webside looked not very promising. Bulky and maybe slightly too large body, assymetrical grill and so on didn’t attract my buying interest. Some times later, I came across another French model shop webside showing the same kit which looked much better. So, I finally bought the kit. 2 Versions are available, a slotkit without chassis and a curbside kit without wheels/tires.

Casting of the body is quite nice, however modifications were necessary to get the lower side profil of the body looking correct. Huge single exhaust brings a little life to the almost plain chassis. Driver figure is also included as well as a set of nice decals. Head and rearlights (with separate chromed bezels) are pre-assembled, rearlights already painted clear red. However, main headlights are too small and were replaced by larger ones from the parts box. Only parts missing are the 2 tow bars? on the front. Openings in the p/e-grill are there, but nothing to fill these holes. A wheel/tire set could be bought separate, however looked not this good and I better changed to wheels and tires from Profil24.

With their prewar technics the French cars were no match for the modern Italian and British race machinery. Historical informations and photos of postwar Lago-Talbots are extremely hard to find. Some 1/43 scale ready-made models were available of the T26 Le Mans, Carrera Panamericana and street car. So, most of my (very few) reference photos were found on the www.

Looks fantastic so far. Do you mind telling where you bought it and which P24 wheels you are using? Thank you.

I gonna use wheels and tires from PROFILs Maserati 450S Zagato.
Manufacturer of this kit is MMK PRODUCTIONS http://www.mmkproductions.com/
However I bought the kit from VPC (Voitures-Pour-Circuit)
http://www.v-p-c.fr/
They speak English and offer most of the MMK-range including their second 1/24 kit of a Aston Martin DBR-1. Don't be confused about the photos of the finished model on their webside. Most show the early prototype of the Lago with wrong grill and inaccurate body.
