No one seems to check Chevette anymore. I need to know how to adjust caster/camber on '78 Chevette, have manual coming but it was ordered online and might take 10 days to get here.
My wife just bought this one, right side needs adj't badly. First one of these that I have worked on.
ANY HELP greatly appreciated.
THANKS.

Most are so rotted by now you should be able to open the hood and grab the shock towers and spread them apart...be careful not to rip it in two

J/K...I'll see if I can see something...IIRC they had a pretty conventional style front end? Don't you just add/subtract shims to the upper arms?

Most of those when they had a wheel leaning, the lower ball joint was about to break...I think you checked for the boss around the grease zirk receeding into the ball joint's flat face...if it is flush or receeded, it's shot...check unloaded (lifted under body, not by control arm)

Used to see lots of those with broken joints on the side of the road...people didn't check them right...

They're fun if you get a real basic one...I had a friend who had a basic w/3spd manual and no power accessories, we lowered the coils (torch job) and put poly bushings in it...it was like driving a real big go cart...fun!

Then another friend had one in high school that had power everything, A/T, PB, PS, A/C, etc...put four people in it and it was lucky if you could hit the speed limit with a 2 mile run...

Sorry it's been too long...check those LOADED, vehicle on the ground. Boss around zirk should stand up slightly above the bottom of the housing. If flush or receeded, it's shot...

Thanks I will get right on that.
BTW it was the wifes idea. Never cared much for those glorified tuna cans myself.

Manual finally got here. The only camber adj. is to unbolt & rotate the top ball joint 180 deg. which will only change it about 1 deg.
