ok i am new here as well,i have a sister that has a 03 grand am,in the winter or on cold days car starts fine but neither the gauges, radio, blower motor for heater fan do not work,in the summer time as the weather is warmer out it all works fine for the most part, depends how cold it is ,determines on how long it takes for them to start working, weird thing is this does not effect the running of the car,it run's perfect just no reading on any of the gauges at all and no radio, heater motor. then as it seems to warm up they just start working,i have wiggled a few wires and check all fuses, please help me if you could or if you have heard of this before..ty tony

Welcome to AF.

The cold can screw with electronics pretty good.
I could see the guages and radio not working or reading correctly, but the blower not working is strange....

Have you checked the blower its self ?
Could be getting water in there and it freezez up causing it not to turn untill it melts down.
The blower is easy to get to, its on the pass side floor, below the glovebox. 3 - 7mm screws hold it in.

Thier's also a drain for the HVAC under the hood on the center part of the firewall. Close to the bottom, just looks like an "J" elbow coming out.

Is the stereo stock ??
Any other aftermarket electronic items installed ?

well i belive it is a electric problem as well....i do not belive it's water in blower motor for the inside heat....it just don't have power to the panel...then out of nowwhere when the weather warms up it all works fine...mine you the lights for all of the gauges and climate controls work, just no function to the gauges, radio, heater motor...years ago i had a friend in new jersey, when it was cold out,in the middle of the night his horn in his car would go off....come to find out it was a lil copper bar/tab that would get cold and i guess flex and touch.....i was kinda thinking something like that was happening here as well, with a relay or something.....but unsure where to begain.....i was wondering if anyone knew of a point of where this power is feed though or where to even begin....ty tony.....will return to see if any knew replys....tony:naughty:

(stock radio =yes........and no extras installed in car just as it comes from dealer...)

I'd check power at the fuses for the components that are not working to try and isolate the problem.
Corrosion in the fuse boxes can cause power issues, especialy if you have a sun roof. Sometimes the drain leak on to the two fuse boxes on th eends of the dash.

I've heard of ignition switchs going out and causing simular power failures.

And then again it could be nothing, just something to deal with when cold.

I see youre from Florida, is the car in the northern US ?

well yes i am born in florida...moved to new jeresey when i was 22...lived here in nj for bout 11 years moved back to florida for 6 months, but couldn't make money so i returned to nj,so i am now back in the cold and snow,i work here in nj as a suspenion mech and have some sort of knowlege of things,i also work on snow plows which involve wiring issuse's as well, but since this has so many relays and computer stuff it's a tad bit more troubling then what i am use to...tony:banghead:
