Horn Problems

Today the horn on my car started going crazy. It started honking by itself and wouldn't stop. Took out the fuse and it stopped honking but now my brake lights don't work. The lights from the dashboard and brake lights are both out so I assume they all work with the same fuse. How do I disconnect the horn without taking out the fuse so the brake lights and dashboard lights can work?:uhoh:

I don't know what year stratus you have but you should be able to just unplug the wire under the hood going right to the horn then put your fuse back in until you get it looked at. The horn should be just behind the grill somewhere. Put the fuse and and follow the honk! haha
Sounds like maybe the clock spring grounded out behind the steering wheel.

If your Stratus is 2000 or older, the horns are located on the passenger side of the vehicle, mounted just behind the front bumper on the frame rail. You should be able to see them from underneath the car. There are two of them, a high tone and a low tone. If it is 2001 or newer, I assume they are located in the same area, but I am not positive.

as of now i have no horn, haha, my boyfriend was able to take out the horn relay because the fuse for the horn is adjoint with the fuse to the brake lights.. its the same fuse so who knows what happened to it but it caused my brake light bulbs to go out.. i bought the new bulbs and put them in but haven't been able to fix the horn, due to time and not being able to figure out where the wires for it were.. my car is a 2000 so now i know they are in the passenger side!! lol, thanks!!

No horn, or clicking when steering wheel horn switch pressed.

I disconnected the connectors to both horns and attached a DC volt meter, then observed the meter as the steering wheel center pad was depressed...no DC voltage measure at either horn connector. So, I'm assuming a horn switch, relay or circuit problem. Per the owners manual, the radio power amplified is on the horn circuit, and lotsa sound from the radio/amp.

Where is the horn relay located? How can I disassemble the steering wheen/air bag, without out risk of it deploying? Once I get it apart, is 12v dc always present to the switch contact?

Any suggestions on troubleshooting?
