95 S-10 4 X 4 4.3lArchieCampbell 02-06-2008, 01:13 PM I have a four wheel drive S-10 when I am doing 40 mph and up I here a roaring noise coming from front passager tire area and I can also feel a slight vibration in gas peddle. I thing it might be the wheel bearings dose anybody know how difficault it is to change them? dragon_kin01 02-07-2008, 01:07 AM to change them its very simple but time consuming. fist, verify it is the bearing before proceding. lift the frontend, chauk the rear end and spin the tire. listen behind the tire. if u hear a slight grind then u may proceed. next, take the tire off and look behind the brake rotor at the bearing. look good to see if anything on it are cracked, any grease leaking, ect. again spin the rotor. if u hear the pad rubing the rotor then disregard the noise for now. remove the brake caliper and pads (keep the brakeline attached to the caliper or ull have to bleed the brakes). hang the caliper by a coat hanger in a way so it wont hang. when u have the brakes off, place the lugnuts or any nut that will fit back on the lug studs down to the rotor if it is a free floating rotor. spin the rotor and listen for any noise. if so, take the rotor off and pray u dont have ABS. if u do, CAREFULLY remove the sensor not to damage anything. behind the lugstubs should be 4 torx (check before doing any of this to make sure u have the right tools) bolts and nuts. torx the bolts and hold the nuts with a wrench. careful not to break bolts, tools or knuckles. they will be VERY tight. when u have the bearing in hand spin it one last time. if it binds, stiff, noisy, slow to spin, ect. anything other than smooth spin u need a new bearing. hope this helps. let me know what u find.
