Another project.
I want to make a F430 fully open.

First I realized a resin copies to avoid damage the original kit.

Pics of silicone mold.

It´s good to be a homemade copy, isn´t it?

Capo finish.
Single lack to putty the bulkhead of the windshield.
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/8549/02fresado01ri5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

It gives fear to do this with the original one, for that reason I made copies.

Sorry for my English, is difficult to me to express in technical words.

Enjoy.

I love the "capo finished", compagneros and your "quick and full contact" way to do things (a couple hoods from a whole body shell insthead untidy cutting jobs...) I like, I'm tuned.

I see all the pins what are they for? also is this the bottom of the car in silicone or did you start to pour the resin at this point?
Gracias y Saludos

Wow, really nice start Pablo!:smokin:

The castings are really nice and bubble free, are you de-gassing the resin first? I'm guessing that your method of pouring the resin first is a good trick to get rid of air bubbles? What's the working time of your resin? My stuff goes thick in 2-3 minutes - I think it's too quick setting for this method.

Do you just pour the resin in and drop the inner part over it, or do you move the mold around to get the resin all over the mold first (slush-casting, I think it's called)

Amazing! How difficult is it to copy the body, eg, how many days, how much stuff to buy? Is this considered a copyright violation? (j/k) :grinyes:

Hi Cinqster, I don´t de-dassing the resin and the work time is 2-3 minutes too.
I mix the components of the resin in a glass, later I spill it to the mold, I move and step a brush by all the grooves, and later put inside the backmold.

Hi mrawl, the copy not is dificult, I have taken 1 day in doing the mold, and 15 minutes by copy.
By 50€ you have the necessary materials.
Copyright violation? Single I want copies to not destroy the original one.

I'm wondering if I could do a 500mm body the same way with such a short resin working time!:grinyes: :banghead: :nono:

if he doesn't sell it he can do what he wants to :-) and every second resin manufacturer copies Tamiya parts. I guess their 1/20 cosworth has been copied a million times :-)

Hello guys, the news updates:
I have already finished to the work opening and sandpapering.

http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7453/02fresado05ph7.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The rest after the battle.
http://img227.imageshack.us/img227/7513/02fresado06nk1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

A good trick, I add aluminum dust to the resin and as it is a very thick mixture I can make pieces very fine.

http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/4748/03aluminio00gp2.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/539/03aluminio01cc1.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/2671/03aluminio02cm8.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

I spill the mixture in the mold, and soon I move it with the hand until covering the part that interests to me.
http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/8886/03aluminio03yo9.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

http://img146.imageshack.us/img146/8084/03aluminio04vo5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

The result, a very fine capo piece without sandpaper.

Enjoy.

Fibreglass stockists usually have it. I tried it a while back with ordinary polyester (fibreglass layup) resin and if you get the mix strong enough it'll polish up real nice! :naughty: May just use it for the Porsche drums.

With the aluminum powder (not dust, thanks) I can realize a very fine pieces, and more strength too.

I read this is a 1/43 scale, then after watching the fine detail in the original and your molds I was convinced it was a mistake in the title and that the actual model was 1/24.....

Until I saw the MicroSol/Set bottles in the background!

Wow! Really cool, thanks for the casting techniques tips!

Ciao!

I found out today that one of "my" suppliers has that stuff too. Stupid thing is they are far away and i've been there a couple of weeks ago...dohh!
Will keep it in mind for my next order!

I´ve never used the aluminium powder in the resin, I´ve seen it where I buy my resin, but it looks more like a gel, like the colorants, like a paste. I´ll try some day!
thanks for the tip, and keep up posting the advance.

Best regards

Could you point me (on their web site) to the exact resin you're using? I'm trying to replicate a die-cast model car and modify it, but don't have resin in my area.

Hello Utzelu,
this is the resin a silicone:

- Feropur PR 55 1L

- E 55 Poliuretano 1L

- Silastic 3483 Base + Agente de Curado.

Around 50 €.
