The blower fan on my 88 LS is making a grinding noise which started a couple of weeks ago. Shortly before that I had a P0336 code on the OBD II reader, so I reset it and took the car to the mechanic who replaced the crankshaft pulley and sensor (bill $521). The noise the blower fan is now making was much worse before he replaced the pulley and sensor, leading me to believe that the pulley was also making some of the same noise, which is now only being made by the blower fan motor, which seems to come on especially when making a sharp left turn. If I turn off the fan, the noise stops, so I know that's what is making the noise.

Now the switch control works on speeds 1 through 3 but not on 4. So my question is, when I replace the blower motor is that likely to fix the high speed, or is that a separate problem? Speed 4 stopped working a few months ago.

Thanks,

quickcurrent

Welcome to AF. Seperate problem the blower resistor/relay pack is usually at fault.

Thanks, is the resistor near the blower motor on this car? Maybe I should replace the resistor at the same time then.

Not sure about location, look on the blower case as you mentioned.
