i just bought a 2000 malibu..

have a few problems with it and some ideas on what it could be i just want more input and or opinions...

1. The gas gauge acts up. like it seems it dont even register the level of gas in my tank. ----> i figured its either a faulty fuse or the O2 sensor

2. seems like somtimes going uphill Somtimes not all the time it feels as if its slipping, doesnt do it majorly, just like a eeerrn eern kinda fast and a few seconds inbetween...----> so i figured i can try flushing the tranny and see if that helps it????

3. sounds like either my hubcaps are lose and their making noises when driving, OR the wheel bearings need replaced...

4. last problem im having is my heat / ac blows air on 3-5 level, but not 1 or 2.. ----> could this be the "air pump relay" or the 'blower motor relay' ???

PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS GUYS, i really need to depend on this car.

Problem #3: if you have the aluminum wheels, and it sounds like small pebbles, first check the little hub cap to see if some of the 'lugs' have broken and are rattling around.
Problem #4: This is often a defective resistor card (printed circuit board), which is tucked up behind the blower motor against the firewall. search on 'blower motor resistor' on this site to find the remove/replace directions.

#1 02 sensor has nothing to do with the level of fuel in your tank or the level the guage reads unless there are some MAJOR electrical problems. you should be having other problems too if that were the case. either a bad guage in cluster, or bad sender sensor in pump, or wiring in between.

#2 is there enough fluid in the trans to begin with? if not, that can cause slipping. this could also be a sign of another problem, would be best to get it on a good scanner.

#3 could be as Johnny says, could be bearings, or cv axles. remove hub caps and re-test. if noise is still there, post back and we'll try to narrow it down a bit.

#4 also agree with Johnny on this one, or could be control knob in dash.

please post back what you find, or what fixed it.
