I picked up a mirror assembly for free and need to replace just the mirror in mine. How do the wires come out of the connector off the mirror? I tried pressing the clips and sliding the wires out the back but they won't budge. It looks like the red piece through the middle of the connector should come out but I don't know how.

Is it possible to disassemble the connectors so I don't have to cut the wires and splice them together?

I think you have to take off the WHOLE mirror so you have enough slack to unplug the wires. I think you should be able to pop off the INNER cover to get to a screw so the entire mirror comes off.
Hope someone else has done this so to correct me if I have made a mistake?

I'm trying to separate the mirror from the housing. With the plug still attached, it won't slide through the grommet out to the mirror.

If you can't do it your way, then I would think you would take the mirror off to fix your problem????? Good Luck,

I was hoping to not replace the whole assembly, it is just a problem with the motor. The free replacement I picked up does not match the color on my car.
