Yes, Freude am Fahren (the Joy of Driving) is a consequence of driving a BMW. My advice, join a local BMW car club--most have driving schools--nothing like learning to better drive your machine. Be safe!

I think BMW is a great car. You should not be facing problems with it!

Get your car regularly serviced and get the air filter replaced after every 3000 miles! Get yourself updated to latest technology, i do not think you will face vany problems.

What year and which model do you have? Automatic, manual, or SMG? The type of transmission dictates different types of care and feeding. :smile:

FYI, the e60 designation is the platform for the fifth generation of five series (not a model number). The e60 platform includes the 528, 530, 535, 545, 550, and M5 in the US (and variations to include all-wheel drive, i.e. 535ix). Also (for example) the 535 could be a sedan or a wagon. For Europe, add the 520, 523, and 525 for smaller displacement gasoline 6-cylinder engines and diesel engines.

I was looking out for more tips on BMW's which i can read out and understand easily. I am looking for some sources that can be of help to update me to the lastest. I am layman and have no knowledge of transmissions etc...

I have the BMW 7 series and have had not problems with it so far.

Though even I have not experienced any problems with it. I am just looking at preventing any problems in the future.

I don't think so. It was more to do with the car review and its features. Josh Dinnerman deals with a wide variety of topics.

I have absolutely no problems but I feel Josh Dinnerman cannot provide a solution to this problem. I feel that a car specialist can give good tips on BMW rather than Josh's JDD Media.

There have been some minor problems that I got them sorted out.

There were some engine problems and I got the filter changed.

Yes I think you should keep changing the air and the oil filter often as required.

Use good quality additives. Josh has an article on it in Autoview.

Get it regularly serviced in a authorized service center.

Make sure all the spark plug wires are kept clean.

Pay particular attention to the engine. Check the fuel filter for any contaminants.
