mabee someone can give me an idea of the time it will take to successfully convert my 1984 f150 from an automatic transmission to a 4speed od standard.

find an '84 with a manual 4 speed od set up and it will have what you need to go from automatic to manual trans. in fact '82 to '86 should work

4 speed OD? were talking about what is commonly called the 5 speed manual, right? I don't think these came out until 1988. I could be wrong though.

i do beleive that the 4spd od (aka 5speed) did come out in the 87 modelsbut i found the info i needed and im not going to attempt the project. thanks for your help but everything im finding says it would depreciate the value. not wanting to sell but i also dont want to make it worth less.:grinno:

im not interested in another automatic tranny, but thanks for offering. im going to do the change over soon, first i have to go over the 351 im gonna bolt the 5 speed to. it has been sitting for 2 years and shows signs of leakage around the valve covers and oil pan.
