I have an 03 Grand Am with the 2.2 4 cylinder in it that just started giving me the misfire problem today. When hooked up to a scanner I get the P0300B code and nothing else. I have replaced the plugs and boots thus far but haven't gotten into the ignition coil yet. can anyone help me narrow down what the problem might be?

I went out to start it this morning and it didn't crank over right away. I tried again and it started right up with this misfire deal.

Please help!

Welcome to AF!!

The P0300 is a random misfire code. I would check the ignition module and the coils especially if you have replace the boots and plugs. The other issue may be dirty fuel injectors causing the issue. Sometimes dirty injectors will cause a misfire condition. Don't forget to change the fuel filter too as a lack of fuel will cause problems as well.

Ok. I got the ICM to replace that. Hopefully this fixes it. If not than off to the shop it goes.

Fuel Filter and Fuel Pump were replaced in the last 10,000 miles so I doubt it would have anything to do with that but I will check it out.

I will keep ya posted. If ya have any other ideas please let me know!

Thanx again!

Success! Was the ICM. Put the new one in and she's a runnin' fine now!

One new thing I did notice tho' is a wierd sound from the muffler when shutting off. Not a back fire or anything...just a slight rattle from the muffler. Mabye I jarred sumn' loose in the muffler from driving it to get fixed. Who knows... :grinyes:
