Am working on a 2000 Ford Windstar.
When accelerating from a stop, there is a hesitation
before RPM picks up. What causes such a hesitation?

You sure its the engine and not the trans? When was the last time you had a complete tune up? I think Wiswind would say to use Berryman's -12 fuel system cleaner available at AZ and AA, sometimes at walmart. Any codes/cel?
