Timing chain tensioner

I have a '98 G/A with the 2.4l. It has a bad timing chain tensioner which bleeds down after about an hour. After starting it, it rattles a bit then smoothes out after a few seconds. I don't know if it's my imagination, but it seems like it actually runs rough for the first couple seconds, like the valve timing is off. I'm almost entirely certain that the tensioner is on the "loose" side of the chain, but I wanted to get a second opinion on whether or not I can wait until spring to replace the tensioner.

my opinion I would not wait.the tenisioner runs off oil pressure, thats why the noise goes away after it runs, builds pressure.plus with the guides on the timing chain should keep the slack out of the chain.if the tensioner bleeds down to much it will make the chain and guide rattle.if the tensioner bleeds off to much could cause the chain to skip a tooth.
