Weird EGR Solution

Okay, Ive been having a weird problem with my car. Like it would stall and then cut out on me after driving it sometimes and then at other times it would cut off whenever i stop for a stop sign...Sometimes it won't even crank.

Now.

Just about 2 days ago, I decided to go out there and rev the engine to see if it works..Well. I rev the engine pretty loud and i started to smell some plastic burn. I open the hood and I notice that the intake hose (my friend replaced the stock vacuum hose with rubber tubing) connecting to the egr selenoid was burned, which sealed off both intake port and egr selenoid port...

Now my car is running VERY GOOD!!!

Is it safe to leave it like that?

Also, my ground cable got disconnect.. Is it safe to leave it like that, because it still fires up.

Thanks,
Tatsuya Hori

You need to fix the ground cable.

If the EGR vac. cable is burned through then it needs to be replaced for the EGR system to function correctly. If the ECU detects that the EGR system is not working then you will get a CEL

Also with the EGR not working properly won't you see a significant decrease in mpg and over all performance ?

The EGR actually lets hot exhaust gas and carbon back into the intake manifold. This is why it turns black. You may lose like 1mpg so its not a big deal. I took all of that shit off, all it did was get in the way.

Your not going to gain any performance since it only recirculates when at idle and part throttle but it keeps the intake clean.
