Possible Fuel Leak

Hello

I took my car into a local shop today to get the oil changed and have it looked over from the underneath. They noticed it smelt like gas was leaking which is why they checked it out from underneath. The mechanic said it was a bit damp around the Fuel Filter. And you can smell the gas when you are inside the car. My question is this, is there any ideas of what could be causing the leak? A few friends said the fuel hoses probably need to be replaced. Also the cost would be great before I take it into my normal mechanic tomorrow

Thanks
James

Could be the "O" ring inside the fuel line, which would need to be replaced.
Depending on your year/model , it could range from $40-120 depends on what all needs replaced.

Yeah probly is, the tank would have to be dropped to get to the line connector(s) on top 'o the gas tank.

If someones real crafty they can replace the "O" ring , if that is the problem, but I dont recomend it.
My GT has been fixed by just replacing the "O" ring, about 2-3inches inside the fuel line. Quiet the trick getting the old one out, and installing a new one. :banghead:
