i have a 01 deville which makes a loud scratchy noise when started. the noise is comming from a electrical motor under car by front tire driver side, it stops in a minute or two..can anyone tell my what this motor is and why the noise ??? :confused: thank you....

The only motor I can think of that is there would be the ABS pump. Do the brakes work ok, or any lights on the dash?

brakes work fine. no lite on.... it look just like a fan motor in heating system and has a quarter inch. rubber hose coming off it .hose goes to somewere behind car motor cant tell were... someone told me this is a air pump....is that the some is ABS PUMP.... why the noise ????

I am having the exact same problem with my 01 deville... did you figure out the problem because its really an annoying sound.
