I had to replace my head gaskets the other day on a 3.0 vulcan in a 96 taurus. the problem I ran into is I didnt roll the engine over to TDC on every cyl to torque the rockers down. ( I THINK the lifters are over pumped???) Now the valves are not closing all the way so I am getting poor compression. My question is How do can I fix the problem without raplacing lifters or can I?

First you need to buy a Haynes or Chiltons Manual.

Then bring the #1 Cylinder to TDC.
Tht should align the timing mark and the mark on the dampener.
After that you need to mark the dampener every 120 degrees with white out.

Follow the instructions in the book as to which rockers to tightnen in every 120 degree position.

A Haynes Manual is about 15 bucks at any parts store and explains the procedure in great detail.
