AWD Disable light on (sometimes ABS, too)VentureJim 01-08-2008, 11:23 AM First time to this forum. Wondering if anyone else has had issues with the Versatrak AWD system. My story: Over the span of the last 25K miles and 18 months, the AWD Disable light has come on repeatedly and sometimes includes the ABS light. It is always triggered by wet or slushy conditions, when you need the AWD the most. Sometimes recycling the ignition will turn out the lights, but sometimes it takes weeks (many ignition cycles) before the lights stay off, as if something has to "dry out" first. Four trips to the dealership in these 18 months have netted the replacement of both rear wheel bearing units (on the diagnosis that the speed sensors within the bearings had gone out), all the rear wiring harnesses, and most recently (Dec 28) the hydraulic fluid control valve within the AWD differential. That was good for less than one day. The lights came back on Dec 29 and they're still on. The dealer involved GM TAC but they have no more ideas on what to do next. I'm invited to leave it with the dealer to do further fiddling, but at $90/hour I have no faith they know what to do next. Not even GM knows what to tell the dealer to do. Anyone else been down this road? ImpalaRat 01-14-2008, 01:35 PM I have an '03 AWD Venture and at 15000 miles, had both front wheel hub/bearing assy's replaced. Same thing, AWD disable light was on. So far no issues with that, BUT.....I have also had the rear diff fluid replaced three times. The rear end would make noise due to clutch dragging. There is a TSB on it. So far, no issues with this. I have a new issue with a "clunk" and will be posting a new thread. I argued with GM and got them to extend my warranty for another three yrs/36000.
