1990 Eagle Talon and hard starting

Hi,

I have a 1990 Eagle Talon and last year I had the radiator and timing belt changed. A few months after it started becoming sluggish to start. For example it would turn over but not start for several tries and with each try it seemed to want to start more and more. It has gotten progressively worse. Now it takes, sometime, 10 minutes to start.

At first I thought maybe fuel filter or bad fuel line. Of course I hope it's nothing as bad as the fuel pump. Or maybe it's the new timing belt?

Maybe I am way off as well? Just looking for some suggestions before I bring it into the shop.

Thanks for any assistance!

Welcome to AF. Well not trying to be a dick but this thread should be under the Problem Diagnoses section. Anyway what engine does it have?
There is alot of active threads that address this same problem.

Well if its the fuel pump its not so bad :) I just sold my stock one for 20bucks hell it be cheaper than a mitsu fuel filter probably.
The first thing I would do is change the plugs.
When a car is trying to start it needs three things well kinda four
FUEL, SPARK, Compression/Timing, and AIR.
That being said; now you should test each one.
For fuel, you can pull an injector put the car into start and see if it sprays fuel. If it doesn't You can listen for the fuel pump when the car is on under the back seat.
If its spark its easy. Just pull one of your spark wires and and put it near something metal when you try and start the car. If its that then you won't see a spark jump. Of course even if the spark plugs are getting spark they could still be bad so might as well just change those anyways.
Air is a given make sure there are no blockages at the airfilter and anything along the intake/Intercooler pipes and make sure the air can escape out the exhaust.
As for compression well that one you gotta by a compession gauge pull the plugs and crank the motor.
If the timing is off thnumbers won't be right.

How does it run once it's started?
