ok guys...i kno its a very simple task to do (removing a fuse), but wuts the point? i've HEARD that it can speed up the time it takes ur ecu to read new mods, an i kno it will get rid of most of the bugs in ur ecu. i understand how it reads the new mods, but it will do it automatically, so why/how would it be faster if at all? don't bs' if u don't kno...only want serious answers from ppl that actually KNOW the answer.

well besides the fact that you awensered your own question...i don't really know of any PRO per say to resetting your ecu besides the point you stated...

When you mod your car its best to reset the ECU so that it can adjust to the mods... otherwise its still running as if you had your old setup. EVENTUALLY it will change, but just pull the fuse and wait 5 minutes - so you actually get the benefits of modding.

i mean...does it take longer if u don't reset the ecu for the mod's to be adjusted to?

That isn't a dumb question...THe fuse box is at the top left of the engine compartment, to the left of the battery. Information about the fuses should be printed on the cover of the box. You want to remove the one that says "back up" - it's the 7.5 amp fuse on my car. Pop off the cover of the box. On my car the 7.5 amp backup is the second fuse from the left at the top of the fuse box. Pull it out with a pair of needlenose pliers. I drive a 5th gen Civic...your car might be different...

Ah, okay. Thanks! I asked that because there are 2 fuse boxes in a Civic: the one in the engine bay, and the other one under the dashboard by the steering wheel. And yup, my Civic is also 5th gen, so we're pretty much the same.

Only one thing to add, you only have to remove it for about 30 seconds...

What I like to do is remove the fuse and unclip the ECU, then plug the fuse back in and then insert the clips again. By then it powers down and gives me something to do for a minute... :smoka:
