97 cavalier keyless entrydizzy77 02-18-2003, 07:51 PM I need to program my keyless entry remote on my 97 cavalier can anybody help me Shortbus 02-21-2003, 10:04 AM 1997 Cavalier remote keyless entry programming. All Remote Keyless Entry Modules may be programmed to receive four different transmitters which all may be used to operate the remote control lock system on the vehicle. Also, severalvehicles, each with the same system may all be programmed to operate from the same transmitter or four different transmitters. Step 1. Turn ignition off Step 2. Ground the program pin.(within one second, Lock, Unlock and Trunk will cycle to indicate module ready for programming.)**the program pin is the two wire connector plugged into the RKE reciever in the trunk of the vehicle at the Left Wheelhouse. Leave the main harness plugged in but unhook the two wire connector and ground the pins.** Step 3. Press and hold the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons until: Lock, Unlock, Trunk, and Horn cycles to indicate the transmitter has successfully been programmed. (This takes no more then 12 seconds) Step 4. Repeat step 3 for the remaining number of transmitters Step 5. Remove the ground from the program pin. Step 6. Verify proper operation of the transmitters. amitnf 06-09-2003, 07:11 PM Have the remotes of 2000 Cavalier LS trying to use them for 1998 Cavalier LS. The only difference is 98 doesn't have alarm system and it's remote doesn't have the alarm button. THe remote for 2000 has alarm button and it also had alarm system from GM. I did tried to follow the steps and it lock, unlock door and truck but nothing happens when I hold the LOCK and UNLOCK button but when I do the same steps for it's original remote its works ok. My question is that are the remotes compatible with system with/without alarm or are the remotes interprogrammable. Thanks AMit Shortbus 06-09-2003, 07:40 PM Originally posted by amitnf Have the remotes of 2000 Cavalier LS trying to use them for 1998 Cavalier LS. Thanks AMit No they are totally different. 97-99 are interchangeable, but 2000 uses a totally different remote and receiver setup. The back of your remote will need to have part number 16245103 on it to work. Hope this helps. justlooking999 08-10-2003, 09:24 PM 97 cavalier remote program This site is awesome, a wealth of information. I spent much time searching and found almost all the info i need to reprogram my 97 cavalier remote. What is the final word on the differences in GM part number on the remote transmitter itself? I just bought a 97 cavalier, without the remote ofcourse, and dont know what my part number should be. However, on the left wheel well, right where it should be, is the receiver. The receiver's part number is GM 16250139, and the receivers FCC number is AB01502R. I can assume that the transmitters FCC must be AB01502T. Note the R and T at the ends. So, will any part number work, so long as the FCC is the same on the reciever and transmitter (except the R and T at the end, depending if it transmits or receives)? Can i just get anything off of Ebay as long as the FCC's match? What are the horror stories in RE to this, i havn't heard them :) If anyone can shed some light on this, feel free to school me :) Please reply here, or hit me back at "humphrb[AT]yahoo.com" no quotes. Thanks in advance felonyotc 07-28-2007, 02:21 PM No they are totally different. 97-99 are interchangeable, but 2000 uses a totally different remote and receiver setup.
