Depends on what year your car is. I doubt that you can get to it from the floor. Its not too much work to drop it though, just make sure its empty and it will make things a lot easier.

For any meaningful answer post the year, makes sense, no? I would not recommend attempting to cut a hole in the floor. 2000 up should have an access panel on the upper deck of the trunk floor.

That is exactly what I am going to be doing with my 1996 '88 in a day or two. Going through the floor of the trunk is a much easier job, and the hole/replacement will be completely hidden by the carpet/spare tire. I wouldn't do this on just any car, my Olds is a 1996, and I would be lucky to get anything in exchange for it since you already know how terrible the resale value is. I am sure that your 1993 isn't a high dollar show car like mine:lol2: so I am sure you won't mind the sheet metal under the trunk in the carpet.

Its easier to drop the tank. Why dick around with cutting a hole and then re-welding it? I don't understand why people think its so much work to drop the tank. When I work on my derby cars I usually have to drop the tank to bolt in my supports and its honestly not hard at all.

Drop the tank if you cut a hole itll only lead to rusting out faster and leaks so your carpet will be soaked and maybe your back seat too, i have seen water travel far in a car we did that too
