I just rebiult my tsi. went 30 thou over on cylinders and polished the crank. i have it timed to 5 degrees BTDC. but it runs like shit, i was told from a couple people when you rebiuld an egine the timing has to be adjusted accordingly. i guess i was just wondering if u could tell me where to time it to to compensate for bigger cylinders? thanks.

also, my turbo seems to be leaking oil into the exhaust. is this a sign of a bad turbo? the drain pipe from the turbo to the oil pan is clean. i cleaned it twice and its burnin alot of oil. its defenatly through the turbo though. not rings. any help would be greatly appreciated. im kind of new to the whole turbo system. thanks.

What car do you have? Year, model, mods, etc will help. You say you timed to to 5* BTDC, why did you do that? We have timing marks on the cams for our cars, you don't time them with a light like the older ones.

I timed it to 5 degrees with my light because thats what it says under the hood. on the sticker. its a 93 2.0 turbo.

the cams are timed perfectly to the crank. i did it myself. the balance shafts are gone, and cylinders are bored 0.5mm. thats all so far.

If it is truly at 5 degrees BTDC, then you should look elsewhere for the problem. Did you do it like this: http://www.plymouthlaser.com/timin.htm
