Hello again,

it seems some people liked my Toyota GT-One buildreport. As I'm currently build two kits at the same time I thought I will post my second build the 312 T4 in 1/43 here also...again sorry to everyone who allready know this report.

The Tameo kit is extremely nice but has some parts that need to be improved and I will add a few details here and there :evillol:

progress is slow at the moment because I wait for some metal rods/wires/tubes to arrive before I can scrath the suspension, I just don't like the PE parts...

ok...here we go again

Really not bad, BUT room for improvements :-)

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_02.jpg

...if I go full detail there is something to change

-The openings for the brake coolings are solids but I want them hollow, just like the real thing
-All the vents must be opened. Only one is open (triangles) all others will be cut out later

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_03.jpg

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_04.jpg

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_05.jpg

The two cooling ducts are cut out allready. I was really scared that I will ruin the kit

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_06.jpg

The most scary part is nearly finished, the new ducts are in.

....don't ask how many times the parts broke off and I also solderdd some nice holes into the body..scary stuff

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_07.jpg

Here you see the new opened colling openings, now there are five.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_08.jpg

Metal added from behind.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_09.jpg

alot of filling has to be done

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_11.jpg

The skirt between the cooling ducts was cut away also and has to be redone from scratch.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/body_10.jpg

After a little primer the whole thing doesn't look to bad. The PE meshes are allready bend and test fitted...a lot of modification to the openings where necessary to make them fit. Then will be painted seperately and attached as the very last step to make painting and polishing the body not to hard.

No we take a look at the monocoque. The nice thing is, it doesn't need paint only polishing to a high glossy look.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/IMG_7434.jpg

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/mono_01.jpg

after a lot of sanding and polishing we have this and believe me it looks much better in reality..really :-)

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/mono_02.jpg

That cast in sterring part has to be removed and remod from metal tube...that knife fits so nice :-)

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/mono_03.jpg

A lot has happened.
The PE colling meshes where "blackened" and sanded back to metal that only the recessed parts stay black.

Die beiden Überrollbügel habe ich aus Metall selbst gebogen.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/mono_04.jpg

The cover for the head rollbar has been cut from metal sheet.. There is also the new turend fire bottle (this has been remode allready, bigger and better ! ) and the from for the "emergency off switch".

PE parts of the fuel tank are added but need further detailing to make it more 3D not so flat..

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/rollbar_01.jpg

That is the original kit part, so I guess the scratchbuild rollbar looks nicer.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/fuel_01.jpg

The PE frame from the fueltank was golden..and I hate golden PE parts :-) I chemically made it silver mush better than painting.

on to the engine..nice part but lots of scratchbuilding needed !

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/eng_01.jpg

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/eng_02.jpg

Painted and a little wash applied. The distributor was modified so that it can receive the plug wires. Due to it's small nice I only managed to drill ten holes in it instead of twelve, so I guess I have to fiddle those tow plugwires in there somewehere :-)

Holes for the fuel lines have been drilled and 0.3mm fishingline was added.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/eng_03.jpg

In the next step I removed the fishing lines and replaced it for 0.15mm line. After it was in place I painted it clear orange.
The metal thing was turned on the lathe and detailed with PE nuts...but I have so idea what that thing is :-)
http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/dist_01.jpg

A picture of the distributor withou the holes. The bottle has allready been cut of and will be replaced by selfmade turned piece..

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/zuend_01.jpg

A few of the ignitioncoil, that has alse been replace for a turned part.

and here we go again...

I detailed the front airintakes for the brakes by making them "hollow". I replaced the walls with thinner plasticard

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/brakes_01.jpg

The first layers of color (tS8) and the decals are applied. I also applied some clear layers and then the decals.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/paint_01.jpg

The next layers will be ZERO's 1Part Clear...I hope it's really THAT good.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/batterie_01.jpg

Isn't the batterie sweet :-). The body is made from plasticard and detailes with PE nuts, wire and thin metalsheet.

Let's get the engine cable'd.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/zuendkabel_01.jpg

That mess has to be cleaned up...

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/zuendkabel_02.jpg

These are the small rings for the Sparkplugnumbers, a little big for 1/43 but anything smaller will be to hard to handle.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/engine_01.jpg

Cables are tied up now, allways three in a batch.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/cool_tube_02.jpg

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/cool_tube_01.jpg

Here are the tubes to the coolers made from solderwire, shrinktube and metaltape.

I hope you like that little update

here's a little update
http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/paint_02.jpg

Paint is on...TS8, Zero 1K clear, Decals, many layers Zero clear all applied with the Airbrush. Next everything will be sanded matt and polished to a high gloss finish, masked paint brwon and ready it is

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/filter_01.jpg

A part I don't know, some kind of fuel filter ? made a new one on my lathe, added some steel tube, painted it red, added .25mm fishing line, painted yellow, PE cap added..ready !

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/sitz_02.jpg

Seat installed and shiftgate.

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/rollbar_02.jpg

The rollcage is covered with thin metal, fire extinguisher is turned on the lathe, a few cables and details need to be added here later.

wuaaaaaaaaaaaaaah damnit....what happened ?!? read on !

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/polish_01.jpg

today I went for some realxing polishing. basic stuff, shiny surface but crappy looking :-)

let's go

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/polish_02.jpg

sanding mith 3200 micromesh and nikken 2000 paper till the orangepeel dissapeard and everything is matt

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/polish_03.jpg

a little tamiya compound.....rub....rub....rub

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/polish_04.jpg

BANG...while removing the compound a nice part of the paint broke off..great !
Now I have to repair the whole crap...guee I will fill it with a brush and some red paint
or any other advices ?!? on larger scale I would use the airbrush but not in 1/43

this is how I did the polishing...maybe someone wants to know

-sanding 3200 micromesh and some parts with 2000 paper
-polishing with tamiya coarse and fine compound
-sanding with 6000 micromesh
-polishing with tamiya fine and finish
-a littel tamiya waxing

OK, let's repair the accident...maybe I will redo the polishing when the new paint is on.

That is awesome, I don't know how you guys work 1/43. I have successfully touched up by brush before, but being metal, I'm not sure.

What kind of primer did you use? I noticed that the normal Tamiya primer is not the really good when it comes to PE parts. I usually spray one layer Finisher's power primer first (on white metal parts too) and then the normal Tamiya white or gray primer.

I can't remeber whish primer I used, but from now on I use 1K Standox Primer, this works very well. I doesn't "chip" so much like the acrylic primers do.
I think they main reason the paint chipped of was that the part I soldered in was to smooth.

Reading down your progress it was easy to lose sight of the fact that this is a 1/43rd scale model due to the details you've added!

Absolutely excellent work!

My best effort will be not to stuff up this kit (I ordered mine just a couple of weeks ago!) beyond recognition. Here you come and detail it even further! Brilliant job, keep us posted.

Exactly my feelings too. I had to check back to the title just to make sure I read it right. Great wip unfolding here.

It's been a long time since the last update but I'm currently working at the kit and will finish it very soon...yes sure ;-)

I tried to solder the suspension parts but failed and then used the basic kit PE parts...well most of it

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/steering_01.jpg

some part of the steering parts. the tameo kit just supplied a metalrod but the original has some kind of joint, so I made my own using metaltube, rod and those beautifull acustion suspension parts

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/frontsuspension_01.jpg

finished. some PE parts and that's it..the rear suspension is under progress...a very nerve wrecking process

http://www.3dgrafix.de/forum_bilder/Tameo_312_T4/web/dampers_01.jpg

those dampers are just beautiful. I love the PE part to use as a guide for the correct lenghts while glueing the parts.

to be continued
