Broken Driver Side Window

I have had this problem for over a year now. I'm a poor college student. One day I was at a drive through and as I put down my window (power window), it started making this strange noise. It went half way down. So I tried to power the window back up. (stupid move!) The window dropped. I was on my way to get my oil changed so I told the person there. They took the panel off and said the entire track was busted. They wanted $400.00 to fix it! As a temporary fix they put the window back up and it's held in place with these two rubber pieces sticking outside the bottom of the window out the door. That temporary fix has turned into over a year fix. My window is slowly starting to slide back down. So I have it taped up to keep the rain out. The window itself is fine. It didn't crack or anything. I have a 2002 Grand Am coupe. Anyone have a rough estimate of how much a track for it would cost? Please tell me good news and that it won't cost $400! :runaround:

Welcome to AF!

The part from the stealership might cost you about that much plus the install. Depends what all is actualy broke.

You can buy these parts aftermarket on the internet, places like ebay sell them rather cheap just be carefull who you buy from, make sure they are good sellers etc.

For instance see this link....

Also here is a link that shows how to replace the window regulator and motor Assembly.
