95 Civic EX Stolen ECUSentax 12-27-2007, 12:00 PM Hi everyone, this is a weird one for ya. My ECU got stolen out of my car a week ago :banghead:. I went to start it one morning a week ago and noticed that stuff in my car just didn't look right and that someone may have been in the car. When I went to start the car I got nothing. I found it weird that the car didn't start after noticing stuff strange in my car. Anyways, after the busy holidays I got to look at my car and thru troubleshooting the problems a friend told me that ECUs are popular to get stolen from vehicles, I was out of ideas and went out and looked in the passenger side of the car and noticed the carpet pulled away from the kick panel, and low and behold the ECU is missing with only the harnesses showing :frown:. So with that, anyone know where I should go from here? Will Honda sell these at a resonable price? Can I get somewhere online that you may know is reliable? What price range do these usually run? I don't need aftermarket performance computer, just basic plug-n-play ECU from stock Civic so I can drive my car again! :iceslolan Thanks, Scott EZFrank 01-07-2008, 06:44 PM Advance auto parts or a boneyard would be the cheapest place or ebay. That sucks. I hate a f@%Ken thief. Christ 01-08-2008, 02:09 AM Meh, you can get them from Ebay... or a parts store.. best bet is to get a ECU from the junkyard.. the things rarely die, so just make sure the floor of the car isn't all wet and completely soaked, pull it, and take it home w/ you. Honda will overcharge you out the ass for the ECU... to the tune of about $600 iirc... BTW, if you have theft insurance on your car, it's covered.. get the estimate for replacement from the insurance company, take the check, buy a used ECU from "somewhere" and stash the leftover cash. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
