Just bought a new 2002 QuadcabBill Strong 02-06-2003, 12:10 AM I just bought a new 2002 quadcab with the 360cid V8 and 4x4. I needed another 4x4 (I also own a 2000 GMC Jimmy 4x4) with a bed to tow my racecars. The Jimmy did good, but at 9mpg it sucked... especially in the hills and while having a 15 gallon tank I was stopping every 10 minutes to fill up! It is loaded with leather and carpet... weird having a truck with all that! I am so far very happy with it. Though it could use a bit more power. I am looking at a 3" catback and a slight change in timing along with a free sucking intake. http://www.racingstrong.com/dakota/dak01.jpg 450HPviper 03-12-2003, 12:26 PM Not may favorite truck, but a nice one. Should have plenty of power. Bill Strong 03-12-2003, 12:31 PM I have had the truck for over a month and a half now. It is okay, though I have yet to tow with it, next week, I just bought a Toyota Celica All-Trac, so I can see what it does on the power side. I am a bit concerned as the power seems down. I was expecting more from the 360... we wait and see... 450HPviper 03-19-2003, 08:21 AM Not enough power? Put $500 in it and add 30-40 Horse. It might be worth it if you tow alot. Bill Strong 03-19-2003, 08:34 AM so, $500? I was thinking of a single 3" catback free flowing exhaust, mandrel bent stainless steel. Custom cold air intake... maybe even a ram air style setup. What else?? 450HPviper 03-21-2003, 04:54 AM single 3" catback free flowing exhaust That will help let the engine breathe better. Custom cold air intake A cheap mod that will be very effective. What else?? I don't know, maybe a K and N filter set. Bill Strong 03-21-2003, 05:27 AM lol... sorry, all RSe Intakes include K&Ns. That is not $500. I can build that for less than $200. So what else would $300 get me? Come on man... you made a quote, let me know what else I can do other than the basics that every kiddie with Mom's with a hondah integra knows about. 450HPviper 03-21-2003, 09:38 AM How about a EDELBROOK INTAKE MANIFOLD or EDELBROOK THROTTLE BODY. If you search the net, you will find lots of performance parts. :D QuickMaxima 07-02-2003, 03:22 PM Dude, go to KRCperformance.com. They have plenty of go fast mods for Dodge engines. The 5.9L is not supposed to be a great power maker from the factory in this platform (although they do use it in the R/T). Also, check out dodgedakotas.com and sign into the message boards there. I'm into R&D for all kinds of things for the 4.7L V8 Dodge/Chrysler engines, but I also know a ton about the pushrod 318/360 (5.2/5.9) engines as well. I'm under the screen name Demon Dakota there. CYA around! Justin Bill Strong 07-02-2003, 03:55 PM Cool man. I joined the dakota site a while ago, just havent had time to do anything, I run the Toyota MR2 Message Boards and my own race shop, so busy is good. Though I did put a 3" cat back on the dakota. demo2803 12-20-2008, 12:58 PM What you gettin for gas millage on that. Im averaging about 14...on a good day. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
