engine swap87elcamino 02-05-2003, 07:57 PM I am thinking about swapping my 305 for a 350 in my 87 el camino. I was wondering if my transmission (TH200R) could handle the power difference? Any help is appreciated. Also they have complete crate engines at summitracing.com and a chevy recon 350 says "for pre-76 vehicles" does this mean it wont pass smog or what? The smog laws in California are strict so I need to know this. Thanks redimpss5 04-29-2003, 01:43 AM i put a 94 lt-1 350 in my 85 camaro and it hauls butt now!! i also took the car to the california state referee, and he passed it for the state! down side was they require the stock intake that came with the engine and i had to take the hood off for that (fixed that when i got home) redimpss5 04-29-2003, 01:45 AM i forgot, the tranny can be built to hande some power. thats the tranny thats in the grand national. but it is a weak unit. i would up grade. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
